Pat Russell will be stepping down as Chair of the Group in May at the Annual General Meeting. She has been doing the job for four years and her son will be moving on from the 7th Lichfield to the next stage of scouting at Easter so feels the time has come to hand over the reins.
Cath Babington has been the Group Scout Leader for over five years and has been a leader for many more than that. She too feels it is time to move on and will be stepping down in July.
The Group Scout Leader’s job is most likely to be taken over by someone from within the uniformed section of the Group. But the Chair’s role should be filled by a parent or other adult connected to the group rather than by a uniformed leader.
Cath and Pat have been covering not only the main responsibilities of those roles but also a number of the administrative and organisational tasks that are needed to ensure that the Group runs successfully. Some of those are responsibilities that others have already stepped up to take over. But it still leaves us with some jobs to be done. If you click on the following links you will be taken to two documents – one which describes the main jobs of Chair and GSL. One which describes the admin jobs.
On Tuesday 10 March we will be holding a special meeting of the Executive Committee – the parent’s committee – at the HQ in Ash Grove to discuss the changes and to find people to take over the various jobs. The meeting will start at 8.30 pm and last until about 10.30.
We need parents to volunteer to do these jobs. If they are not done, the Group will not be able to function as well and ultimately this may compromise the experience that your children will be able to have.
Please do come along and offer your help. If you can’t attend but could offer to take on one of the jobs, please do get in touch with Pat at pat.russell@7thlichfield.org.uk
Thanks
Pat
