7th Lichfield Group Homepage

The Group, based in Ash Grove, Lichfield, is a thriving Group in the District. We have over 120 young people who attend and a dedicated leadership team. The Group has two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs and two Scout Troops. The group is affiliated to St. Michaels Church but is open to any Young Person.

7th Lichfield Scout Group is also a registered charity. Our charity number is 1021870.

Each section leads an active programme for the Young People who attend, indoors, outdoors, winter, summer. There is always something exciting happening at the 7th!

The Group Executive

In addition to the uniformed Leaders, there is a dedicated team of adults who are responsible for keeping the Group running through such activities as fund-raising and maintaining the Group's equipment. The efforts of these people are co-ordinated by the Group Chairman.

Parental Responsibilities

It is hoped that parents will want to support their child's Scout Group. There are many ways in which this support can be given:

  • Transport for your child to venues for camps and meetings
  • By supporting the Group's fund raising activities
  • Attending the Group's A.G.M.
  • Helping out on section evenings especially when external activities are arranged.

Behaviour

One of the ingredients of a good Scout Group is underlying discipline. All children are expected to behave well and appropriately. This is essential and inappropriate behaviour will not be accepted. Generally, minor incidents will be dealt with by a telling off. More serious examples, such as bullying, will result in a child's parents being contacted. These measures may seem obvious, but we feel it important that all Scouts are aware of what is expected of them. Sixers and Seconders, Patrol and Assistant Patrol Leaders in particular will be asked to set a good example to the younger members of the group.

Subscriptions

Scouting costs money. The Leaders do their best to offer quality Scouting for the lowest possible cost. The main source of income for the Group is the Membership Subscription paid by all members. Sometimes, we ask for a contribution towards activities undertaken over and above the 'normal' Pack night events. We hope parents appreciate the need for us to ask for a little extra on occasions to help pay for the extensive range of activities undertaken.

Commitment

Members of 7th Lichfield Cubs are expected to take an active role in the activities of the Pack. The following should be considered the minimum commitment from a Cub Scout:

  • Attend all meetings unless ill or away.
  • Take part in St George's Day Parade in April.
  • Attend camps wherever possible.

Financial Help

Scouting is for all children, regardless of their background. Financial help is available to allow Scouts to attend camps who would otherwise be unable to take part. Please contact a leader in the strictest of confidence if we can offer help in any way.
